Absolute- and target-return funds have weathered recent volatility, outperforming Cautious Managed counterparts when equity markets across the world tumbled. Research by Investment Week shows all eight of the cash-plus funds examined beat the average Cautious Managed return of -4.25% between 16 July and 20 August. Mark Lyttleton's Merrill Lynch UK Absolute Alpha and Ken Adams' Swip Absolute Return generated the best returns of the eight funds surveyed.
