Foreign & Colonial (F&C) is to waive the front-end charge on its flagship Higher Income Plan from 13 May until 31 July 2002, allowing investors to buy the fund at a 5% discount. On top of this, the group will continue to pay 3% initial commission and 0.5% trail, remunerating intermediaries out of its own assets. Philip Childs, head of UK retail at F&C, said the recent loss of investor confidence, brought about by a combination of poor stock market performance and high fund charges, required some quick action and attractive incentives.
