Henry Chan is to pass the $221m Baring Pacific fund to SooHai Lim when it converts to a South East Asia-focused vehicle in July. Chan will continue as head of Asian equities and run the firm's Eastern Trust and Korea fund. In July, Baring Pacific will ditch its 30% Japan exposure and expand its remit to include countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand. Barings said there is more demand from clients to place investments in these areas. The name will change to Asean Frontiers and it will move to the Asia ex-Japan sector.
