Lipper was in the process of designing its own sector classification for unit trusts and Oeics as well as for offshore funds. Previously, UK fund classification was established by the main trade bodies, such as Autif. For European offshore funds, sector classification was less defined, with much of it based on the old Lipper HSW system, derived from the Autif classification. The product was expected to be completed later in 2000.
