The gold price has reached an all-time high, breaking the previous level reached back in 1980. The World Gold Council said the US dollar record was set today at $865.35/oz, compared to the previous high of $850/oz set on 21 January 1980. This also represents a 37% increase on the price over the past year and continues the sustained six-year rise.
