The Financial Services Authority is proposing a short-selling disclosure requirement for all UK listed stocks but not a full ban on the practice. The suggestions in its latest discussion paper follow a review of short-selling the FSA undertook after putting a hold on the practice in September 2008. The paper looks at arguments on both sides of the short selling debate and, examines potential regulatory constraints and options for transparency.
