Solar feed-in tariffs are now excluded from further EIS investment but similar opportunities exist, writes Edward Guinness, manager of the Guinness EIS fund 3.

Since April 2010 when Feed-in Tariffs were introduced in the UK, hundreds of millions of pounds has been invested in solar projects by investors who have also taken advantage of enterprise investment scheme (EIS) tax benefits. Attracted by RPI-linked tariffs guaranteed for 25 years and the enhanced 30% EIS income tax relief, investors identified solar as providing a compelling investment proposition.
