What an interesting six weeks it has been. Since the FTSE hit its most recent high on 8 July, the large-cap market is down almost 12%. The fall in equities was quite sharp and severe, but do not be put off – for this recent correction could offer some opportunities. It is true there are a lot of issues on the global economic front that need to be resolved – politicians need to realise the usual tactic of ‘kicking the can down the road’ with quick fixes and temporary measures may not work this time.
