Newly-appointed manager reduces banks exposure to turn around performance on New Star Sterling Bond vehicle

Stephen Thariyan and Philip Payne took over management of the £280m New Star Sterling bond fund after Henderson’s acquisition of the company in April this year. While Thariyan has no previous retail fund management experience, as head of Credit for Henderson he oversees a 17-strong team of managers and credit analysts responsible for approximately £8bn of credit portfolios. Payne, on the other hand, currently also manages Henderson’s £972m All Stocks Credit fund and the firm’s £559m Long Dated Credit fund, both of which are available to retail investors.
