High cash piles see companies payout special dividends

BlackRock's Adam Avigdori says its global reach has made the UK one of the highest-yielding equity markets.

UK investors could be forgiven for thinking the whole world is in turmoil following the severe equity market falls of August. In looking outwards at the eurozone debt problems and fears of global recession, it is sometimes comforting to look inwards in the search for relative value. The UK market has been decoupling from the eurozone and US as it has remained ring-fenced from many of the problems facing the world’s two largest economic zones.
