Fears arising from recent Dow slump must not damage prosperity of 2009 so far
Opportunities are available in the US market if investors can work past their fears arising from recent shocks in its economy, say managers. Although 2009 began with some elements of hope - Barack Obama's inauguration took place, investors were talking of a turnaround by the second half of the year, and the Dow Jones was rising above 9,000 - those have now been dashed by recent events.
