Absolute returns have proved all but impossible to find this year among long-only vehicles and many hedge funds have also taken a credit crunch battering. A rare offering boasting positive numbers in 2008 is Collins Stewart's Absolute Return Plus, with the fund of hedge funds up almost 2% year to date. This is a product outside the normal hunting ground of retail investors as it is Guernsey-domiciled and not FSA registered.
