A strategy of recycling profits from mid caps into blue chips has helped Adrian Frost and Graham Ashby outperform in the competitive Equity Income sector

Equity income funds are expected to be another strong push this coming Isa season having been among the top three best-selling sectors for most of this year. A further six equity income portfolios have been launched this year alone, giving intermediaries 79 such funds from which to choose. Competition is fierce, though, particularly in a sector in which names like Bill Mott, Neil Woodford, Tony Nutt, Jeremy Lang and Carl Stick have consistently delivered solid returns over recent years.
