WH Ireland has appointed former Brewin Dolphin director Robert Race to head up wealth management in its Manchester office.

Race will lead the existing Manchester team and is tasked with developing the wealth manager's presence in the north west. The appointment is the latest in a series of hires as the group attempts to expand its discretionary management expertise.

While working at Brewin Dolphin and its predecessor businesses, Race gained experience in investment research, corporate finance and investment management. He spent 13 years as head of the firm's Manchester office.

In addition, he chairs the London Stock Exchange's north west regional advisory group and the charity Wood Street Mission. He is a chartered fellow of the Institute for Securities & Investment, and a chartered wealth manager.

WH Ireland chief executive Richard Killingbeck said: "I am delighted to welcome Robert to WH Ireland's Manchester office. He brings substantial experience managing money and advising private clients. I expect him to play a key role in growing our private client proposition."
