Fidelity's Bolton to retire in 2014

Fidelity's Anthony Bolton is set to retire next year, bringing to an end his 30-year career in fund management.

Bolton (pictured), who made his name producing consistent levels of outperformance running Fidelity Special Situations over a 28-year period, will retire next April. Bolton, who now runs the Fidelity China Special Situations trust, will be replaced by Dale Nicholls, manager of the group's offshore Pacific fund since 2003. When Bolton took the helm of the newly launched China Special Situations trust in April 2010 after relocating to Hong Kong, he committed to two years running the portfolio, later extending the length of his tenure.
