RWC Partners has hired Lakshman Harendran to its convertible bond team, which had been depleted after the unexpected departure of lead manager Miles Geldard in November.
The London-based manager hired Harendran from Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he was a member of the fixed income team - focusing on convertibles, investment grade and high yield corporate bonds. Harendran has worked previously with Davide Basile, RWC Partners' head of convertible bonds. RWC manages about $1bn in convertibles, up from about $660m in January 2009. Its three-year old, Ucits-compliant long-only convertibles fund, which takes subscriptions from £10,000, returned 25% last year.
