Scottish Provident has agreed to demutualise and transfer its business to Abbey National, subject to its member support at a vote to be held in early 2001. Susan Sneddon, group marketing manager at Scottish Provident, said the company will be maintaining its concentration in the protection market and will not be looking to enter the stakeholder market. Scottish Provident will not be re-branded as a result of the demutualisation and transfer to Abbey National.
