Group's Africa Equity manager believes Asian demand for commodities will continue to drive region's performance as sector enters into a long-term cycle
African companies will continue to benefit from Asian demand for resources amid the current commodities super-cycle, according to Stanlib's Stephane Bwakira. The Africa Equity manager believes commodities are in a sustained long-term cycle and his positions in copper, gold and diamonds, as well as infrastructure plays, have boosted performance on the fund. Since inception on 15 August last year, it has returned 21.90% in US dollar terms, according to Stanlib.
