Simon Shaw, former head of UK equities at Clerical Medical and Insight, has joined investment boutique Epic to run its UK Equity and specialist Insurance & General funds. The group is looking to build up a one-year track record on the portfolios, which have assets of £13m and £44m respectively, before marketing them to the intermediary market. Jo Welman, chief executive officer and chairman of Epic, said it will not target investors direct.
