Candover Investments believes continuing corporate restructuring by European companies points to brighter medium-term prospects for the specialist buyout investment trust. Stephen Curran, chairman of the independently-managed trust, said buyout markets during the first half of the year were depressed both in the UK and Europe, in line with M&A activity globally. 'A number of large deals have been announced during July and there are signs of a pick-up in activity, particularly in the Continental European buyout markets,' he said.
