The investment trust sector raised some £2.6bn in new money during 1999, most of it from split caps, writes James Thorneley. Within this total investment trust brokers Collins Stewart raised £651.2m, which according to its estimates puts it top, ahead of HSBC with £620.8m and Warburgs at £386.9m The Collins Stewart team, led by Rolly Crawford, was responsible for some of the largest split capital launches of the year.
