The New Star High Yield Bond fund, run by James Gledhill, reached its first anniversary on 14 October and now has assets in excess of £100m. The portfolio has returned 17.91% on a total return basis, offer to offer, according to the group. As of 30 September, the fund had a gross redemption yield of 6.39%. Gledhill said gilt prices will remain under pressure now that interest rates look to be rising but higher-yielding bonds had a greater degree of protection against the effects of rising rates.
