Artemis UK Growth manager Adrian Paterson has moved one-fifth of his portfolio into companies with a property-backing. Paterson said he is becoming increasingly attracted to companies with stable and predictable cashflows and a strong property backing. “Since the start of 2006 I have been making some big thematic investments,” he said. “The most important of these has been investing in asset-backed companies with attractive cashflows. “Firms such as pub and food retailers, nursing homes and hotels, all of which have strong property backing, now make up 20% of the portfolio.”
