New Star High Yield Bond manager says bottom-up approach clouds bigger picture

James Gledhill’s New Star High Yield Bond fund is ranked fourth out of 59 vehicles in the IMA Strategic Bond sector over one year to 30 November, up 39.1% against the average increase of 22.9%, according to Morningstar. The fund aims to achieve a high level of income with some long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in fixed and variable rate and index-related securities, both in the UK and internationally.
