'Physical retail is not dead': The stores emerging from the High Street 'bloodbath'

2017 was another bloodbath for the high street. In the UK alone, more than 8,000 stores closed and a handful of household names, such as Toys R Us, filed for bankruptcy.

The days of traditional bricks and mortar retail are numbered. Online is the only game in town. Or so goes the accepted narrative.  In our opinion, the truth is more nuanced. Yes, online is gaining share, but 80% of purchases are still done in store. And though this may be declining in aggregate, it certainly is not the case everywhere.  E-commerce: The modern day gold rush? So what does this mean for European investors?
