Standard & Poor's begins its assessment process with a quantitative screen to test past performance consistency

Standard & Poor's Fund Services provides qualitative fund management information, including fund management ratings on over 2,200 funds worldwide, of which 1,467 are in Europe including the UK. The fund management rating process starts with a quantitative screen to test the consistency of the fund's past performance over three discrete 12-month periods, plus a six-month moving average. S&P has found these more reliable measures of historic performance than cumulative historic performance figures.
