In March 2005, the Government published UK Real Estate Investment Trusts (Reits): A Discussion Paper, to consult on how the structure of a new Property Investment fund might be developed for the UK. The Government is hoping it can include the UK Real Estate Investment Trusts in the Finance Bill 2006. A Reit is basically a company set up with the sole purpose of owning and managing investment properties.
