Investment Week's sister company Incisive Research has conducted a poll of financial advisers on what boutiques are and how much of their business is conducted via these types of companies
Despite a perception that investment boutiques perform better than larger players, financial advisers do not invest most of their business via this type of company. In a recent survey conducted by Incisive Research only 7% of respondents had between 76% and 100% of their business invested via boutiques, and 9% had between 51% and 75% of their business in boutiques. The majority - 37% - had between one and 25% of their business in boutiques, while 30% had between 26% and 50%.
