With a host of multi-asset and multi-manager funds on the market, is there still a place for the traditional cautious managed vehicle or could this type of fund find itself extinct if it does not evolve quickly?

As competition from multi-asset and multi-manager funds grows, more traditional cautious managed funds are coming under the spotlight - and advisers are finding that even without including alternative investments, funds in the sector are diverse in their holdings, with some using the full 60% of equities allowed by the IMA, with others maintaining larger holdings in fixed income.
