Lipper's Hedge Fund Insight Report shows that funds fell in August for the first time since June 2006 as the sub-prime syndrome spread. The Credit Suisse/Tremont Hedge Fund Index returned -1.53% in August for a year-to-date (YTD) return of 7.03%. Other findings include that on a monthly basis, overall hedge fund performance lagged many traditional equity and fixed income fund indices. The S&P 500 TR Index returned 1.50%, the MSCI World (USD) Index returned minus 0.03%, and the Lehman Global Bond Aggregate returned 1.23%.
