During the past three terms of the current Government, a whole raft of anti-tax avoidance legislation has been introduced to patch the holes in the 1984 Inheritance Tax Act. While this strategy has undoubtedly made estate planning a far more complex affair, it is a mere reaction to court reverses rather than the root and branch radical overhaul expected during the government's current term in office.
