One of the effects of the credit crunch has been that multi-billion pound private equity deals, for a while a regular feature of the business section front pages, have slammed to a halt. But this does not mean private equity itself has stopped in its tracks - far from it. For a start, recent estimates suggested there was around $800bn being sought in private equity fund raisings, with a similar sum already raised and waiting for suitable investments.
