AIC figures for 2006 have revealed fund managers are increasing cash weightings after struggling to find value investments. Annabel Brodie-Smith, communications director at the AIC, said despite 2006 being a strong year for stock markets, a number of managers shifted holdings to cash, particularly in the Global Growth sector. Brodie-Smith said Debenture Corporation, managed by James Henderson, increased its cash and fixed interest exposure from zero a year ago to 13%, while Alliance Trust has increased its cash and fixed interest position from 2% a year ago to 8% at the close of 2006. ...
