James Carthew, research director at investment trust research house QuotedData, asks if trusts specialising in private equity, asset leasing, and debt are worth considering for income hunters.

Like their open-ended cousins, investment companies offer diversified portfolios across a range of asset classes. Even for fairly liquid investments, investment companies have an edge over open-ended funds in that they make it easier for the manager to take a genuinely long-term view about investments without having to worry about cash flooding into the fund at the top of the market and out again at the bottom.
