Neptune European Opps tops the Europe ex-UK sector over three years

Neptune's head of European Equities, Rob Burnett, puts the fund's outperformance down to the accuracy of calls on the sector, getting cyclicals right in 2004, energy in 2005 and industrials in 2006

The Europe ex-UK sector has enjoyed a strong run over the past three years, with the average fund returning 81.3% over the period. Top of the table is Neptune European Opportunities, managed by the group's head of European equities Rob Burnett, which has delivered 139.13% over three years to 1 October. Burnett puts the vehicle's outperformance down to accurate sector calls and choosing stocks with exposure to those sectors. The £298m fund has recently moved into pharmaceutical stocks for the first time since launch in 2002, and is also focusing on large-cap companies. Good sector bets ...
