As the private equity bulldozer thunders on, its business practices are beginning to come under scrutiny. The FSA's response to the explosive growth of private markets has been through consultation with the industry on issues including transparency and regulation. At the beginning of the year, the regulator published a paper entitled Private Equity: a Discussion of Risk and Regulatory Engagement, which examined the wide-ranging impact private equity is having on public markets.
