Four Somerset Capital managers join Polen Capital after UK fund range takeover

Alongside four EM equity strategies

Four emerging market equity portfolio managers have joined Polen Capital’s London office from Somerset Capital, following the former's takeover of Somerset's UK fund range in December last year.

Upon the completion of the transaction today (1 February), Mark Williams, Kumar Pandit, Carolyn Chan and Angel Ortiz from Somerset have joined Polen Capital's emerging markets team, which is split between London and Asia. The takeover by the $66bn US asset manager followed the announcement late last year that Somerset Capital, co-founded by Jacob Rees-Mogg and minister for investment Dominic Johnson, would close after losing two-thirds of its assets after its largest investor, St James's Place, severed ties with the firm.
