Industry Voice: Win Rugby World Cup 2015 prizes in the Structured Product Challenge

clock • 4 min read

Societe Generale has launched the first ever virtual Structured Products Challenge for financial advisers and planners in the UK.

iw-iv-rugby-socgen2This is your chance to gain a real life experience of researching and managing a portfolio of Structured Products, without risking a penny of your client's money for real.

Everything is designed to be as realistic as possible and to provide an entertaining way to learn more about structured products.

How does the challenge work?

You will be taken on a tour of structured products history. The game starts in 2004 and progresses by a year each week. Plans are based on real structures, and use historic pricing to keep conditions as realistic as possible

At the start of the challenge, you will have £50,000 in virtual funds to invest across the first tranche of UK Four Investment Plans. Each Monday morning the game will move on a year, maturing plans will pay out, and you will be offered a selection of new plans with new dates and rates. The skill is choosing when to invest and what to do with any profits when they pay out. You can sit on your hands and still earn a return on the cash held.

iw-iv-rugby-socgen1What can you win?

As Worldwide Partner to Rugby World Cup 2015, Societe Generale is offering you the chance to win one of 20 Rugby World Cup 2015 prizes. The contestant with the highest overall return on 29 June will win the ultimate rugby prize weekend with hotel, dinner and tickets for two to see England v Australia at Twickenham on 3 October.

But it is not just the overall winner that takes home a prize. There are prizes for the top 20 portfolios of the competition:

• First Prize The ultimate Rugby World Cup 2015 weekend for two - includes Michelin-star dinner, two nights in a 5* London hotel and tickets to see England v Australia at Twickenham on 3 October

Earn CPD hours just for playing

If the prizes aren't reason enough to join in, the challenge website is CPD-accredited, so you can earn valuable CPD hours just for taking part. There are a number of guides to help you get to know the plans better and to learn more about the main structures used in the IFA marketplace.

UK Four Investment Plans

Societe Generale's range of UK Four Investment Plans include a range of Kick Out Plans and Growth Plans linked to the performance of the FTSE 100 Index, or a combination of the FTSE 100 Index and either the Euro STOXX 500 or S&P 500 Index. They have a six-year investment term and offer investors the opportunity to secure a capital growth payment at maturity, or in the case of Kick out plans; earlier if certain conditions are met.

The big difference with UK Four Investment Plans is that instead of being exposed to the Counterparty Risk of Societe Generale as the issuer of the securities, UK Four plans spread the investment risk across four major UK institutions: Aviva, Barclays RBS and Lloyds. This way only 25% of an investor's capital is at risk should any one of the UK Four default or become insolvent. You can find out more about the current offer at www.sgifa.co.uk.

Register now

The challenge will run from 13 April to 29 June and you can register at any time from 23 March. Visit www.challenge.societegenerale.co.uk for more information.

RISK WARNING: Structured Products are not suitable for everyone. Investors should be prepared to commit their capital for the full investment term. Capital is at risk and performance is dependent on one or more underlying indices.
