The Fergie effect? Odey shorts Man Utd as team struggles

Crispin Odey has taken out a short position on Manchester United as the team has its worst start to a season for 12 years.

Odey has placed a 0.78% short position on the stock, according to a regulatory filing.  Since taking over from the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson, new manager David Moyes has presided over back-to-back home defeats for the first time since 2001, with the club now 12 points off league leaders Arsenal. Shares in the New York-listed club are up 22.7% year-to-date, however, on rising commercial revenues.
