Smith quits FSA for post at Dubai regulator

Peter Smith, head of investment policy at the Financial Services Authority, is to exit the regulator shortly, Investment Week can reveal.

Smith, (pictured), a well-known figure at the FSA who has been praised by many in the industry for his straight-talking approach, is understood to be exiting the regulator ahead of the implementation of Retail Distribution Review at the end of 2012. Smith has been heavily involved in not only RDR but also the FSA's work on tackling failing investment schemes. Investment Week understands Smith will be leaving within the next three to four weeks to take on a post with the Dubai regulator.
