Ex-Gartmore's Shiels joins Man Group

Man Group has hired ex-Gartmore employee Warren Shiels as director of its UK retail business.

Shiels, previously head of intermediary sales at Gartmore prior to its takeover by Henderson, will be in charge of the distribution of long-only and absolute return funds from both Man and its subsidiary GLG. In the new role Shiels, who spent 11 years at Gartmore, will report to Richard Phillips, head of UK retail at Man. Phillips said: "Warren's experience and significant presence in the third party market will be instrumental in helping us drive further growth as we develop our UK distribution capability and broaden our existing fund proposition."
