The UK pharmaceutical sector has displayed strong growth year to date and is expected to outperform the FTSE All-Share over the course of the year. Over the year to 18 May, the FTSE pharmaceuticals index is up 10.72% compared to a fall of 3.89% in the FTSE All-Share. On a 12-month view, pharmaceuticals is expected to continue to show double digit outperformance relative to the All-Share, says Ross Martin, assistant UK fund manager at Aberdeen Asset Management.
