Mobius on the next decade in emerging markets

As Mark Mobius reaches his 25th year of managing the Templeton Emerging Markets investment trust, he tells Investment Week why he thinks key events in 2014 mean emerging markets are at the start of their most important decade yet.

This year, emerging markets could establish trends which may play out through much of the remainder of the decade. In particular, Chinese government initiatives announced in late 2013 could have far-reaching significance. Moreover, a number of major emerging markets will see major elections in 2014, Indonesia, Thailand and India in the first six months, and Turkey and Brazil later on, which could have an impact on the direction of their respective economies.
