After a difficult year, the worst looks to be over for corporate bond investors, despite the continued gloomy headlines concerning the worldwide credit crunch. Out of the turmoil sparked by the US sub-prime crisis there are now some attractive buying opportunities. Surprisingly, among these opportunities are new issues across the market, including financials. Although the current down cycle still has further to run, since March the credit markets have stabilised. Corporate bonds are the cheapest they have been in several years.
