The US economic rebound from the depths of the pandemic is rapidly regaining momentum and the numbers prove it.

Annualised Q1 2021 GDP growth was 6.4% according to the US Department of Commerce, the highest number recorded since 1984. To quote US President Joe Biden, America is "ready for take-off".   Unsurprisingly, this renewal of confidence brought about by the accelerating US Covid vaccination programme, coupled with $1.9trn Biden stimulus, has lifted the US stockmarket, with the S&P 500 Index rising more than 11% in the first four months of the year.
