AXA IM launches small- and mid-cap Chinese A-share strategy

AXA Investment Managers has launched an investment strategy allocating to small- and mid-cap Chinese A-shares in an effort gain exposure to an untapped area of the market.

The new strategy, AXA SPDB Chinese Equity A-Shares, will have a bias towards small- and mid-cap companies, in contrast to many existing large-cap focused funds. AXA IM's peers, including Hermes, have also been launching funds investing in Chinese A-shares, following the launch of the Stock Connect programme linking the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges.  The strategy will be managed by a team of eight portfolio managers specialising in A-shares, supported by nine analysts.
