Jupiter Financial Opportunities manager Philip Gibbs is moving increasingly towards overseas stocks, investing 70% outside the UK. A year ago, less than half his portfolio was invested in foreign stocks but Gibbs insists he is not making a long-term strategic decision and will happily trade out of the positions if valuations change or stocks meet their target price. Gibbs is particularly enthusiastic about emerging European stocks, which now comprise 12% of his portfolio.
