Global property funds have had to halt forays into distressed areas of the market as a lack of investor interest forces managers to focus on maintaining liquidity levels, according to new research. New York-based real estate investment manager Clerestory Capital Partners says just as "once a generation" investment opportunities have begun to develop, investors have sharply reduced new capital commitments to opportunistic real estate funds.
