Throgmorton has ended a 50-year management contract with Axa Framlington and its predecessors, moving the mandate to BlackRock. The investment trust's board also rejected merger proposals from Gartmore Growth Opportunities, electing for a long/short portfolio run by Mike Prentis and Richard Plackett. Directors have been analysing managers since Roger Whiteoak left Axa Framlington this year. Prentis, who runs the BlackRock Smaller Companies trust, will run 100% of the assets on a long-only strategy, while Plackett will run an additional 30% in a contracts for difference portfolio. Th...
