The FTSE 100 has been broadly flat today, after an initial spike above 5400. It started trading this morning at around 5350 and ended slightly lower at just under 5330. Oils and pharmas have been the best performers, with financials and miners suffering. With the price of crude oil moving above $125 a barrel, Shell and BG Group posted strong gains Commentators said volumes are low and moves have been exaggerated by thin trading.
